Functionally, this drive is great. It works beautifully right out of the box, and the read/write speeds are incredibly solid. I slotted it into my main Debian machine, formatted it, and it had no trouble instantly chewing through a massive file transfer of my archived manuscript drafts and custom TTRPG campaign assets. However, its overall usefulness is definitely limited by its physical design. Since most modern laptops use bare M.2 internal chips for their solid-state storage now, the fact that this drive comes enclosed in a case making it the exact same size as a traditional 2.5-inch spinning HDD is a bit of a drawback. This footprint severely limits which computers will actually work with it. If you are upgrading an older laptop with a legacy drive bay or dropping it into a standard desktop chassis, it's a fantastic, reliable choice. But if you are hoping to upgrade a newer, slim laptop, there's a very good chance this simply won't fit. It's an excellent drive, just make sure you physically check your machine's hardware requirements before ordering!

I don’t know about you, but I like to upgrade to a newer PC about every 4 to 5 years. Unfortunately, with the massive increase in memory costs, buying a new PC looks like a nonstarter. Just in the past year memory prices have tripled to even 4 times more. It now can cost as much for memory as the CPU & motherboard combined. So, if you are like me, I am looking to see if I can take my current PC and do a small upgrade to make it faster. This is where installing a SSD drive in as your operating system (main or “C”) drive can be a great cost savings improvement. If your PC is like mine, it had an old hard drive (non-SSD). So, when I saw this Lufasnd Internal 512GB SATA SSD, I thought it might work to speed up my PC. WOW, what an improvement. Not only did it decrease the startup time but it also made my different programs start faster. For most people, the 512GB SSD is large enough. If you need more space for photos or music then save your old hard drive and use it for those items. But make sure to use the SSD drive for your OS and programs.

I build a lot of systems and run a lot of different computer build configurations. Having drives to use as "empty slates" is super important to me and usually I need something that is more reliable than it is big. Normally I wouldn't consider getting a 128GB drive but the memory price crisis has me looking for options where I wouldn't usually so 128GB and SATA is actually a useful "blank slate" combination to build and test systems with as it is more than enough for the OS, vital programs and a game or two - and having it be an affordable $30 is just a blessing these days. The Lufasnd drive has some cool looking art on it and comes in a box and small instruction guide. It tested at 558mb/s read which is a bit hired than the stated 500, and 10% better is not nothing! As mentioned the affordable price of $30, while per byte may seem expensive, isn't that far from the historically lowest you could ever pay for a SATA drive of any capacity in the timeline! So, I feel the value for money is especially good and justifiable for this point in computing history. Very happy with this and I'll be back if I need more excellently performing blank slates at a good price!
